Capital Zen

From its founding in 2006, Capital Zen has built a regional following touring all over New England. At its height, Zen was playing 50-75 shows a year. Hitting the stage from Boston, to Buffalo, to NYC, and down into PA. Sharing the stage with Goose, Lespecial, CoolCoolCool, Sophistafunk, Consider the Source, Dopapod, The Rustic Overtones, Aqueous, Jimkata, and many more. Not to mention stops on the festival circuit including 4 years at Camp Bisco, The Adirondack Independence Music Festival, Rock the Dock, The Catskill Chill, Disc Jam, Backwoods Pondfest, Bella Terra, and others.

After a decade plus that included four full albums and one EP, the rigors of the road, lineup changes, and growing families led Zen to go on hiatus in 2018. Then during Covid, the founding trio began to jam with some additional players. That little spark led to the fire that their latest album, The Phoenix, would rise from. Released in 2025, The Phoenix is a fresh twist on the Capital Zen sound. Incorporating funk, hip hop, blues, prog, and pop, each song is a unique journey tied together by themes of searching, loss, reflection, joy, and ultimately rebirth.

In 2026, Zen is hitting the road to bring this new album to familiar stomping grounds. With live shows that always bring the energy and can range from an hour and thirty minute festival set of all originals, to a three-hour two set dance party of mostly originals with unique covers mixed in, to a themed all covers show, Capital Zen can and does do it all.
